My name is Ruben Chong. I am a third-year Industrial Design student at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver. Since I was young, I've had a fascination with the things we interact with and the relationships we form with them. This curiosity has driven me to explore how design shapes our lives, connects us to origins and materials, and grounds us in the places we exist in or once knew.
I believe thoughtful design can act as a vessel for connection, narrating contextual stories rooted in community and place. My intention is to create work that fosters new experiences, rituals, and emotions, shaping atmosphere and creating new memories. I am drawn to understanding human emotion and reaction to environments, designing with respect for all things: the material, the maker, and the user.
